Covenstead Chronicles – April 9, 2008 Vol 1 issue 4
As I did not send out a newsletter last week – I have much to cover, so I will send out a second one later in the week with more news and developments.
Busy last couple weekends again at Covenstead! Diamrem threw a kick-butt party on both Saturdays as usual the animal avatars were great and the ballroom dancing, just a great deal of fun. Kane stepped in on Friday with a Superhero party that managed to rock despite the problems with SL. Egyptian party was reported to be a much bigger success than Ains expected and I believe she said Nikita won EVERY quiz questions. Congrats to our costume contest winners, Shantz, Breem and Tsukiko! Ballroom night brought a few new faces and was very successful despite all of the SL problems and the fact that three women wore the same dress - LOL! Monday nights are also drawing quite a crowd with Shantzy in the house!
NEW AT COVENSTEAD: The Library is up on the second floor of the Fireside Pub! We need submissions from you, our members in note form. Drop them in Ainsley’s mailbox in the hub in Cedar or in the drop box in the library. Submissions can be on any Pagan topic – including reading suggestions, landmarks, Information, stories, poems, etc…etc…be creative!
The website is up at www.covenstead.ning.com thanks to Nikita and Ainsley. Entries for the photo contest may be posted directly to the site, thereby saving you 10 L for the upload! Judging will take place …uh….soon as we have some submissions.
Tag sale is this still going strong on the lawns outside of the shops and pubs. Drop anything you want to sell there until Friday. If it’s too big please box it. There is no cost for this, but IF you sell something we’d like (expect) a 10% donation. You can leave it in the vendor payment jar outside the Collective shop. If you are a member – feel free to drop stuff there as well. If you’re getting this …you are a member!
If you are going to leave stuff at the Collective shop you MUST pay 2L for each prim over the free two and MUST set your items to be moveable. Whatever is not moveable will be returned to the owner. Whatever has not been paid for will also be returned to the owner along with their free items until they are paid up. You have until Saturday. Boy I sound tough!
Not using your 512m allotment? PLEASE consider donating it to Covenstead. You can always take it back if you choose to buy land of your own and it costs you nothing. What will you get in return? - Our utter gratitude At this point just under half of our monthly expense is covered by the rental income, about 2% by donation. THANK YOU EVILTOOTH, DIAMREM and ANATHSTRYX for donating your plot allowances! We’re trying to think of a way to properly thank you!
We would like to welcome our new tenants, Kane Plasker and Alice Marama. Welcome to Covenstead! We have quite a few new members too, a big warm welcome to them as well! Remember all, you can always invite your friends to join too, by clicking on them and choosing more, then group invite.

TONIGHT: Shantz will be at the pub 6pm til…? C’mon down and hit him with a snowball! – or a whip!
Thu:6am (yes, 6am) – Skyclad swimming at the Waterfall in Cedar. Topic of discussion: What I would like to see being offered to Pagans in Second Life.
Thu: 3pm – Slavic Spells and Curses: A ½ hour class with Ainsley Weatherwax concentrating on the historical but also the practical. At the Russian Pagan Tea House in Baird.
Fri: Kane is hosting the pub at 6pm. More info to follow if I get any!
Sat: 10am – Anathstryx Fearne will be teaching a class on Rootwork and Herbcraft at the Conservatory in Cedar! Take the teleport or fly South from the hub. This is one in a series. Stop at her shop near the pub for class notes and info.
Sat 6pm – MAGIC NIGHT AT THE PUB – bring your wands, your spells, we’ll find you a victim!
Sun: 1pm: Pagan Pub quiz – It’s stump Nikita afternoon! Ainsley’s going to try to think of something to stump the quiz queen. Come participate or just watch! Cash prizes for correct answers. Afterward we’ll be trying out the Maypole of Silly Walks! Should be fun!
Sunday – April 27th - OUR BIG GRAND OPENING AND BEALTAINNE FEST- give us a shout if you’d like to run an event or class! More details to come!
